JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – On Monday February 26, I interviewed Mallory Whittamore about Softball at JCS.
She has a true passion for the sport and has been playing since she was six years old. She looks forward to tryouts and the start of Softball season each year in early February so that she can get back to the game she loves so much. Mallory is very skilled and holds a deep commitment to the game as well as to her teammates.
Her dedication to the sport is exceptional, practicing hard even on her days off. She is a very important player for the team, playing multiple positions for JCS. She currently plays pitcher, catcher and at times you can even see her playing shortstop. As shortstop, she must possess agility, quick reflexes, and a strong arm to make plays that often decide the outcome of the game. In the role of the pitcher, she needs to be focused, maintain pitch control and be mentally strong and consistent.
Mallory has all of these qualities while still being a good teammate. She has a bunch of friends on the Softball team and knows that each and every player works hard to contribute their absolute best performance in the field. They all have their own skills and shine in different ways. They have developed close bonds with one another and will continue to grow as a team.
Regardless of wins or loses, she knows that they are improving their skills, having fun together and making memories in the process. Mallory gives a lot of credit to her father, Coach Whittamore, and Coach Banas who are both fair and well respected coaches who continually provide support, encouragement and direction to everyone on the team. There are also a few JCS parents who help assist the team as well. Mallory feels truly blessed to be able to do what she loves the most with amazing people around her. Sounds like a home run to me! Go Eagles!
