JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – The business club, led by Mr. Dickens and Mr. Richardson, is in the process of starting its own business. The business will be a cart that will sell coffee to any students during school hours. Coffee will be sold at the beginning of the day, during break, and lunch. The business will be opening next year. The group has been working diligently to sort out all the business details. Meetings are held for this club every Friday during lunch.
The business club members recently went on a field trip to look at the local coffee shops to understand the business more and to get ideas. They tasted the coffee at all the locations they went to so they could understand their differences. The business is sponsored by Pump House Coffee so they will be receiving their coffee beans, and utensils from there. The business will be mainly run by students, although off-campus events will be held by the teachers. The business club members have been very creative with ideas for the business.
Any student who is interested in helping with the business can help. Any student interested in contributing is encouraged to join, with a few positions still up for grabs. Students who help with this business will not be receiving money but instead will be getting community service hours. The members will receive a business qualification which can be used on their college resume. This idea is a great way to learn more about what it is like to start a business. I conducted an interview with Troy Spano who is the marketing manager for the coffee cart. He helped give me the details of how this business will be run, and what it is like to work with the business club. Regarding the business club, Troy says, “The team is learning business principles, marketing analysis, and organization within constructing this business.”
