JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – At Jupiter Christian, many sports are offered during fall, winter, and spring. Baseball is a sport that is played during springtime. Baseball is a sport played with a tiny white ball and a bat chosen to your liking. Two teams take turns batting and fielding. The batting team tries to hit the ball which is thrown by the pitcher, and then the batter runs 1st, 2nd, and 3rd base and finally to home plate. The fielding team tries to get the batting team out by throwing them out or catching a fly ball.
The JV Baseball team is made up of 12 players. The JV team is for middle school as well. Matthew Kutsukos was interviewed. He was asked, “How is the JV baseball team doing this season?” He replied with “Our team is doing great this season, but the two games we played so far we lost, because we played really difficult teams.”
Matthew says that baseball is important to him because his dad played in the professional leagues. He plays the position shortstop; he thinks it is a great position to play because shortstop gets a lot of action. Action by saying most batters hit to the shortstop area and making a play to first, second, third, or home plate. Shortstop is also a cutoff play for outfield (cut off is the ball going further than the outfielder and another player goes to get the ball and throw it into the infield).
I asked Matthew what is a memorable moment for him as a baseball player, he replied “My memorable moment was hitting my first homeroom.” Hitting your homeroom is a memorable moment as an athlete playing baseball or softball. His club baseball and school baseball are different because they play more intense games and people. In conclusion, he believes that they have a very good Junior Varsity Baseball team ranging from 8th to 12th graders.
