JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – Luke Beach is a sophomore, and plays Varsity Football for the Jupiter Christian Eagles.
He currently plays cornerback and wide receiver, and he leads the team in tackles so far this season. He started playing sports at a young age and has been playing football since. Luke has played other sports like baseball, tennis, surfing, and basketball. Football stood out the most for him though and that is the only sport he is currently playing. I asked him why football is his favorite sport and he said, “I like the physicality of it and I have been playing it longer than any other sport.” Everyone has their favorite moment in a game when playing and for Luke he said it was his first touchdown.
Sports like football take a lot of time away from studying and doing homework, but for Luke he said sports do not affect his education right now. When I asked him what about his personal life he said, “I’ve made a lot of friends from playing, but it has also taught me a lot of life lessons.” The lessons he stated were the discipline he has been taught and how it made him a better person.
Discipline is needed in more than just sports and learning how to have it early in life will help you succeed for the long run. Even if sports do not work out, having this discipline for jobs is important. Luke wants to keep playing football after high school. And when I asked him if he had the choice to go to any college where would he go, he said, “If I had the choice I would go to UF, but I am open to any offer.”
Football has taught Luke to not always think about himself, but also the teammates and friends around him.
