JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL — Many students have donated candy to the Urban Youth Impact Candy Drive.
The candy donated will be given to poor children. Jupiter Christian School set up a fundraiser where students could donate candy to benefit their school houses, which are: Justelion, Humilitas, Veritas, or Agape.
Hunter Johnson, a seventh-grade student at Jupiter Christian School, donated. His homeroom teacher is Ms. Herrera, so his house is Agape. He gave lollipops and Ring Pops to the donation box in the middle school hallway. When asked, Hunter said he donated because he liked helping people. Not only did he help the children that would receive the candy but he helped his house—Agape. Hunter said that his donation is part of the reason why Agape is in first place for the Urban Youth Impact Candy Drive.
Hunter Johnson’s opinion was that Agape would win first place in the candy drive and first place overall at the end of the quarter. He also thought that Justelion would be in last place. He was proven correct on the afternoon of October 3, 2024—when Agape was announced as the winner of the first quarter. At the end of each school quarter, one of the four houses wins a prize and goes on a special trip. For this quarter the trip is to go on the school’s field to go on inflatable water slides. The other three houses will go to school as normal.
Hunter Johnson knows that his donation has an impact, even if it is only candy. He said that the candy he donated will help the kids have a good Halloween. He says that—if the children never have a chance to go trick-or-treating or eat candy on Halloween again—Urban Youth Impacts’ candy drive will give them an experience that they would not have a chance to have otherwise.
