JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – Imagine this: football players falling on one another saying “Fein”, the cheerleaders in the background laughing and dancing to their routines, and the audience watching and laughing at what’s in front of them. This is Spirit Week, or specifically, the Pep Rally after Spirit Week. Let’s rewind a little and cover the main parts of this beautiful 5-day event.
Spirit Week was full of exotic and exciting dress up themes, including pajamas, Adam Sandler, country vs. country club, teachers dressing as students and vice-versa, and finally, pink-out to finish off the week with the Homecoming game.
As Sophomore Jack Kolea stated, “Spirit Week on Monday was good for us students because we got to wear pajamas. It was a fun experience, letting students express their creativity away from our normal school uniform.” Furthermore, Spirit Week continued with an Adam Sandler theme, and it was a very interesting day in terms of style. Across the High School, the students either wore baggy pants and sports jerseys, and some of the girls opted for leggings and a hoodie instead. These first two days were, according to Jack, “…very expressive, and it was interesting to see how people interpreted Adam Sandler.” Moreover, Adam Sandler Day was unique in terms of how the teachers decided to dress up. An example was Mr. Wilson, who wore a baggy blue sweatshirt and baggy blue pants, declaring that, “I am Adam Sandler’s blonde stunt double.”
On the third day, students had to wear either country-based clothing or country club-based clothing. There were visibly more country club-style students than country-style dressed students. Additionally, Freshman Christian Escalante said that “Country vs country club was one of the goofiest days due to how everyone was dressed so differently.” On the other hand, for the next day, the theme was students dress as teachers. This was by far the most unique day of the week. Most of the students were dressed up as a generic JCS teachers, while others came in as specific teachers. Finally, some students came in with a coat similar to Mr. Springler’s, and others came to school with fake tattooed arms to look like Mr. Trageser.
Lastly, the final day of Spirit Week was the busiest day in terms of stuff to do. For example, the day’s theme was Pink-Out (for breast cancer awareness), but there was a powderpuff game (Juniors versus Seniors), a Pep Rally, and most importantly, a Homecoming game. The Pep Rally was one of the rowdiest in JCS history because of the Varsity Football team’s dance routine with the cheerleaders. And of course, the Powderpuff game, which was well coached, with Varsity Football players Cayden Alula, RJ Wilkerson, and more, coaching both teams. In the end, the Seniors took the win 12-7. Finally, later on in the day the Homecoming game was very interesting to watch for everyone. The Varsity Football team beat their opponents to win the game 56-14.
In summary, Senior Manny Villar said, “It was cool to see everyone dress up in this style that in a way represents the town of Jupiter.” As Philippians 2:2 states, “Complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.” Finally, God wants us to agree and to be unified under a common cause; this is a good example of what Spirit Week represents.
