JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – Soccer tryouts have just finished and the roster is set. Many players are excited for this upcoming season for many reasons.
One reason could be there are 20 games this year which is a lot more compared to last year, or it could be some of the players are going to get much more playtime than they did last year. One player who is excited for this year is a sophomore named Matthieu Hessel-Poiriez. When I interviewed him I asked him about himself and how he feels about the soccer team.
He has been playing soccer his whole life and he said he has been taking it seriously since 5th grade. He is a striker who is starting this year and feels confident for the season. He said what makes him a unique player is his knowledge of the game and the skills he has.
I also asked Matthieu about how he feels he will perform this season, and he said he should score many goals and that he thinks they can win at least 15 of the 20 games. I asked him how he feels about this season compared to last and he said, “I feel excited and it is going to be way different. I’m hoping we can win Districts. We could have won it last year, but this year is going to be different.”
Even though they lost many key players from last year, he still thinks they will make it further this year. He said the teams that will be challenging this year are Jupiter High, King’s Academy, and South Fork. When I asked him what players are going to make a big impact this season he said players like Josh, Lucas, Trace, and hopefully himself. We look forward to seeing how this season plays out and if what he says is really true.
