JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – Entrepreneurship class is a popular elective for the middle school students this year. The meaning of Entrepreneurship is the process of starting a business or improving an existing one to create a profit. The current teacher for this course is Mrs. Sydow, and she has an assistant named Annie Clark. Last year she was the middle school guidance counselor. But now she is the beloved entrepreneurship teacher. In class, they learn how to start a business, and what job they would like to pursue in the future. Skills they have learned from this past quarter have included learning how to set up a foundation (of a business), setting up a marketing plan, creating a location, flyers, logos, cards, and the quality and quantity of products. As well, to help create their businesses they watch Shark Tank frequently.
An Entrepreneurship student, Hailey Scurry said, “I have learned that through perseverance, persistence, and believing in yourself you can have an amazing idea and bring that idea to life.” Another quote given by Hailey Scurry is, “Entrepreneurship class affects my daily life by letting me know that if I can create a business, with perseverance, I can do a lot more things, if I just set my mind to it.” Hailey is a seventh grade student and has 3 other siblings. She talked about how she is sure to pass down her knowledge, and tell her siblings to take this class. Hailey is very fond of this class. She also plans to take it next year, in eighth grade.
A verse that relates to Entrepreneurship is, Proverbs 16:3. Proverbs 16:3 states, “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” This verse coordinates with this class because if you commit to working on your business, it will payoff. You may end up with an successful business. With the Lord it is similar. If you pray to God and put your trust in Him, you will end up being in heaven with Him. Overall, Entrepreneurship class is a great option for the electives this year, and we hope see it next school year!
