JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – Have you ever wondered what our MS teachers do for Thanksgiving? Everyone has different traditions, so let’s see how our MS teachers celebrate Thanksgiving.
I interviewed two MS teachers and asked them questions about what their Thanksgivings look like. I also asked them questions like what their favorite part and/or tradition is when it comes to Thanksgiving.
The first JCS teacher I got to speak with was Mrs. Harrison. Mrs. Harrison says, “My favorite dish to eat on Thanksgiving is corn casserole. This dish is very special to my family because it is a old family recipe.” Thanksgiving is all about family, and making a family recipe is always a great way to celebrate. Mrs. Harrison continued to say, “My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is every year my family goes around the table saying what they are thankful for and it is always such a special time.” Thanksgiving is all about being thankful and spending time with others.
The next JCS teacher I got to speak with was 5th grade math teacher Mrs. Pinera. Mrs. Pinera says, “Every Thanksgiving we have dinner with my family which is my husband, myself, my two kids, my mom and dad, my sister, her husband, and her two kids. I love having Thanksgiving dinner with my family.” There is no better way than spending Thanksgiving with family. Mrs. Pinera continued to say, “For dessert after Thanksgiving dinner we usually have pumpkin pie, but because the kids don’t like pumpkin I also make a cookie cake.” It’s always hard to get everyone to like the same thing.
Mrs. Harrison also shared that, “During the day on Thanksgiving is so fun because all we do spend time together. Some things we do are we watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, help cook, play games, etc…” She also continued to say, “Sometimes after Thanksgiving meal we go black Friday shopping.” Mrs. Pinera also shared, “Every year I am always thankful that our family members are still sitting around our table, don’t take that for granted. I look forward to having that time with them every year.”
Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful and spend time with family. Traditions may be very important to some people, but the time we get to spend with family is even more important.
