JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – Ava Camejo is a freshman who has recently joined the worship team here at Jupiter Christian School.
She is a singer and is currently in the high school choir. She recently joined the worship team which opened her to a better relationship with God. Ava joined because she has realized that she has a gift from God to be able to sing so she thought to join to share her gift and help others worship. Says Ava, “I wanted to share my vocal abilities to further His Kingdom.”
Ava enjoys singing worship songs because it brings her closer to God. To Ava worship songs are not like normal songs. She feels closer to God, and it improves her relationship with Him. Ava has been singing since she can remember. Singing has always been something she has enjoyed and loved to do. Now that she is older, she has realized that her vocal abilities are a gift and that she wants to share them and use them to share the Gospel. This opportunity gave Ava more confidence in her singing and brought her closer to God.
Dylan is the leader of the Worship team and was very welcoming to Ava. Ava recommends the team to whoever wants to put their voice out there, wants to improve in singing, and wants to grow their relationship with God.
The tryout was quite simple and not intimidating at all. Everyone was very kind, welcoming, and supportive to one another. When you join the Worship team, they look for someone who wants to grow in their relationship with God, and cares about the worship songs and what they mean. There is much commitment to being part of the Worship team. Ava says that you must be at school by 6:45 on chapel days and you must memorize many songs. “It is very time consuming but definitely worth it,” says Ava.
Ava was not very worried about singing in front of the chapel. She knew it was going to be a challenge, but she knew she could do it. After singing in front of the whole high school, it grew her confidence even more.
Ava’s favorite part of this whole experience has been singing in front of the whole chapel and hearing about it after and what she can improve on. This experience has helped Ava in many ways. Ava says, “It has helped me grow spiritually.”
She also feels closer to God, and more confident and not embarrassed to sing and be open. Ava thinks she will stay on the Worship team for the rest of high school. This has helped her relationship with God by not being ashamed or embarrassed to worship, and she has helped others too.
The Worship team is a wonderful team and experience to be a part of. It allows you to put your voice out there, build your relationship with God, and grow in singing and as a person. Overall, the Worship team is a perfect opportunity to grow in many ways.
