JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – Get this in the picture – two soccer teams, each with great potential and great players, playing each other in a game – and you have the chance to talk to one of the best players on every field.
The player, who is a multi-sport athlete, is one of the best players on the middle school soccer, football, and basketball teams. His name is Eli Marburger, and he is a very good soccer player. His opinion on soccer is very good, and he chose to play because he likes to stay fit and likes to have stuff to do. “I like playing sports a lot, and soccer is one of them. It is very fun. There is a lot of conditioning to get us fit, and there are a lot of drills, but it is worth it,” said Marburger.
Although, it is not his favorite sport, Eli says it is close. The soccer team has played 2 games this season. Unfortunately, they lost both – the first 5-1, and the second 5-0. They have several great players, including Caleb McManus, Owen Torres, and the man himself, Eli. “I think we all work as a team very well, but we have a few star players,” says Eli.
Tryouts were not hard, but they had lots of conditioning. “Tryouts were pretty easy non-conditioning wise. We did lots of drills that helped us to stay fit during our awesome games, to help us to have stamina running on the field.” He also said communication in a game across the whole field is a very challenging task. “It’s pretty hard to communicate. The defense is in the back, the offense is in the front, you need to talk really loudly or yell across the field.” He thinks the hardest position in soccer is goalie, which makes sense considering the net is very wide and you can only take up so much space.
Overall, Eli Marburger has a very good opinion on the soccer team and that is all that matters.
