JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – Have you ever wondered what it’s like being on a Varsity team? From talents to interest in the sport, there are many middle schoolers who are shining this year on Varsity teams.
I had the chance to talk to middle schoolers who are on Varsity teams this year. Varsity teams at JCS provide you with a supportive, helpful community. No matter what your background, if you can contribute to the team you will always have a chance to play.
I got to talk to 7th grader Chloe Pinera. Chloe was a swimmer on the JCS varsity swim team this year. This is Chloe’s first year on the varsity swim team. She says, “I decided to join the swim team this year because I have always enjoyed swimming and hard work.” Chloe continued to mention that she was nervous about joining the swim team at first, but she decided to do it because she knew it would be fun and different. She also shared, “My favorite thing about being on the Varsity Swim team is the community is very welcoming and nice.” Truly at JCS you will always be welcomed no matter who you are. Chloe’s piece of advice she would give to someone who wants to join a varsity sport is, “Go for it because you can always find the good in something new.”
I also got to talk to 7th grader Kaiya Ramos. Kaiya is a player on the JV Varsity Volleyball team. This is Kaiya’s about 4th year playing volleyball, but her first year at JCS. She says, “I play volleyball because it’s a fun sport, and I love making new friends and interacting with different players.” Kaiya continues to mention that she loves being on a Varsity sport because of the different competition and age groups. She also says, “I always want to be a light to my teammates and give all of my glory to God…” Kaiya continued to say, “God has given me all of my gifts and when I look at my success I know it is all because of Him and His works.” Kaiya’s piece of advice she would give to someone who wants to join a Varsity sport is, “If you are scared to try out because of fitting in with upperclassmen, don’t be. Upperclassmen may seem scary but they are really very welcoming and are willing to form relationships with their teammates.”
Truly, JCS has a great athletic community. No matter what sport you play; on or off the field, court, etc, we should always be shining for Christ in everything we do.
