JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – Jackson Fair shared his opinion on the schedules this year.
He was first asked if the normal schedule or the block schedule fits into his daily routine more and he said, “The block schedule is better for my daily routine because it helps me focus on less classes and feels like the day goes by faster.” He was then asked what schedule he personally likes more and he responded, “I prefer the block schedule because of the fact that the classes are split up so I have less classes to worry about.”
When he was asked which schedule helps him keep more focus and stay engaged all class he said, “The normal schedule is much better; the classes are too long for the block schedule and I find myself getting distracted more often.” He was then asked what schedule makes it easier to manage homework and he replied, “The block schedule helps me split up my homework because I only need to focus on whatever classes I have the next day instead of worrying about all seven classes.”
The next question he was asked was what differences he has noticed for how he prepares for class depending on the schedule and he said, “For the normal schedule, I have to go to my locker multiple times a day to get the things I need for class but for block days, I do not need to go to my locker nearly as much.” When he was asked what changes he has seen in his grades since the introduction of a new schedule he said, “My grades have improved because it helps me focus on a certain class on the block days which helps me to prepare better.”
He was then asked what changes he would make to the schedule and he said, “I would like it if we had longer breaks in between classes so I have more time to get to class.” When he was asked if he prefers to start school at 7:50 or 8:30 he said, “I prefer 8:30 a lot more because it gives me way more time in the morning to get ready.”
He was asked if he thinks the longer classes on the block schedule allow for more in depth learning or if they feel too long and he replied, “I do tend to learn more in the longer classes because I feel that the teacher describes the lesson better. I also think the classes are not too long but can be shortened a little bit.” For the last question he was asked if the length of the block schedule classes make it easier or harder to focus in each class and he replied, “Some people may find it harder to focus in the longer classes but me personally, I can stay focused for the entire duration of the class.”
