CAMP IMPACT – On Monday December 2, the Class of 2025 went to Camp Impact for an overnight retreat. Having a mixture of cold weather, devotion time, and fun games brought them all together forming a deeper connection between them all. On the day everyone arrived, while waiting for the cabin assignments, they all got to roam around the area.
The top play area was the Minecraft Maze, a fun outdoor net maze. Next would be the go-carts, a small track trailing around half of the grounds, where almost everyone ran into each other and participated in mini races. After a few hours of exploring, lunch came around and cabins soon after got announced. In the lake, which was freezing, the majority of the students got to bond by talking, watching the boys try to shove each other into the old water, and experience learning things about their classmates they had not known before.
After dinner, everyone played Manhunt and searched for Pastor Bill who was hiding in the middle of a rock wall. There was also devotion time where Dylan drove up and led worship around 10 songs with us, and Caroline Dyer, a JCS alumni, spoke about the importance of waiting. As a lady in college she highlighted how seniors should ask God to help them break bad habits and build good ones – because why put off what you can do now for later.
The next day there was devotion time again in the morning and everyone had breakfast. Like the night before, most of the seniors gathered around the campfire and enjoyed the cold morning before breakfast.
The soccer girls left for their game and everyone else cleaned out the cabins and had one last fun run around before getting on the bus to come back home. The senior class emphasized the importance of bonding with their peers and learning about each other. Thankful that they all had time to do this together, many are now looking forward to the senior trip in Costa Rica where they can spend even more time together.
