JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – The Lacrosse season has started and the team is ready for a new season. Team member sophomore Josh Purnell shared his thoughts on this season and the team.
When asked what the team should do differently compared to last year he said, “We need to win more games and practice harder.” Last year the team did not have a winning record and Josh wants this year to be different. He has a lot of confidence going into this season and thinks no teams will be challenging this year and that they will win every game.
The team has a new assistant coach unlike last year with just one coach. When I asked Josh what he thinks of them, he said they are good coaches that want the team to succeed while helping players get better. They run drills for the players that will help them work on their mechanics. Josh said his favorite part of practice that they do is the 6 vs 6 because this gives him the most realistic game situation.
As for Josh himself, I asked him what his goals for the season are, and he said, “To score at least 5 goals this season and get better as a player.” That is a good goal for a sophomore and he still has more seasons to come. The last question I asked him was how are you going to make a difference for the team. He responded by saying, “To work as hard as I can in practice to become better and help my teammates who need it.” Josh is a player who is trying to become better while helping others out and this is why he is respected and liked by the team.
