JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – When talking to Dorian Fauntleroy, the new quarterback at JCS, about community, one thing in particular that caught my attention was he “…strives to be a good example for everyone, spreading the word of God, and being a good friend to others.”
He is thankful for the support of those he had not known yet. “When I first stepped through the door, many people were welcoming and introduced me to their peers, a smooth transition.” He shows his gratitude to others for being so kind to him by being nice to everyone. When asked about his favorite thing about the community around him, he responded with, “We incorporate Christ into our everyday life.” He is proud to say that he sees Christ in not just chapel and Bible class but in daily life. Spreading the word of God is a significant part of his life, and even though he had to start over and not know anyone, feeling that welcoming spirit and Christ-like attitude made him feel right at home. He wants to do the same for other new students as the years go by and “…be there for them as my peers have been for me.”
Dorian expressed his joy when asked about giving to his community and how he wants to help. He spoke about being excited to take part in donations like Jeans in January, and the toy fundraiser that we do at Christmas. He says he would love to share what he has with those who need it more than him. He also said he can share his younger brother’s old clothes as well. Speaking of younger siblings, he has a younger brother who he is very excited to have join the JCS community. He wants his brother to feel the welcoming spirit just like he did!
