JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – Among all the wonderful miracles here at JCS, a few stand out by how they have projected the work of God into the lives of our students.
One of these is the story of Eden Novelus and how his journey nearly ended when he almost got run over by a car. This near-death accident took place when Eden kicked a soccer ball onto the road but didn’t see the car coming up ahead of him. Fortunately, the driver slammed on the brakes and Eden managed to come out alive.
Eden states that after the traumatizing event “I never trusted cars again.” God chose to protect Eden from the car crash as he still has work to do in his life and Eden has not yet fulfilled his purpose.
Due to this event, Eden challenged and strengthened his faith by going to church and doing Bible study whenever he can. Not only has he been strengthened spiritually, but also physically, and now he has become more cautious when going outside to experience the environment around him. Eden states, “I blame the accident on myself,” as he should have contemplated the consequences of kicking the ball before he saw the car coming.
As Eden says, “Do not do something dumb in order to impress others. It can result in a high risk of consequence.” Having seen how fragile life can be, Eden questions how he can strive to do better with his beliefs in who God really is.
Eden’s accident can help us reflect on what risks we should be willing to take and the consequences that come with them. Only through these types of miracles can we see the beautiful side of what God is willing to do in order to protect and guide His people.
