WARSAW, POLAND – Through the many changes in the education system around the world, Poland has recently enforced new mandatory laws including no homework for grades 1-8 starting in April.
These laws are already ready to go into effect and soon will be applied in every school across Poland. As the Prime Minister Donald Tusk says, “This is a general problem of Polish schools, that children’s rights are violated. Assignments for the weekend, tests for Monday.”
Poland’s government also hopes to implement these changes for high school in the future, but for now they have no homework for winter break. These changes will have a huge impact on how the schools will function, they will assign more work during school hours and students will be expected to stay on task throughout the whole day.
Looking at countries such as Finland, they also have these no homework policies but are known to be one of the best education systems in the world. But as more and more countries implement this change, it leaves many to wonder whether they will succeed and stand out by making an example for the rest of the world.
