WORLDWIDE – Formed in September of 1984, NISMO (NISsan MOtorsports) is a subsidiary branch of Nissan that is dedicated to enhancing a vehicle’s power and performance. NISMO was created due to Nissan’s need to improve their cars and expand into the racing industry.
What makes a Nissan a NISMO is engine modifications such as higher horsepower as well as a wide body kit and much more aesthetic and performance upgrades. NISMO first created the Nissan Skyline GT-R – R32, which was nicknamed “Godzilla” as it dominated in every racing series it was used in. NISMO has continued to make their racing-dedicated vehicles AWD since 1989.
All in all, NISMO has made great strides since it was created and participates in most motorsports around the world. Although it is just a fraction of Nissan as a whole, NISMO is loved and honored by racing fans around the world.
