JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – Operation Christmas Child is a world wide organization that gives a simple Christmas gift while spreading the good news of Jesus Christ.
Operation Christmas Child works by having people buy boxes from the Samaritan’s Purse website. Then they fill the box with the needed materials. After that the boxes are sent to a distribution center, and then they go to the kids. The boxes go to kids who live in less fortunate areas of the world and those people don’t usually know Christ. The kids get impacted by the boxes because they receive a gift and a great message at the same time, so many of them then turn their lives over to Christ and know the Savior of the world.
According to Mr. Brian Simmons, “What typically goes into the shoe boxes are toys, dolls, and coloring books. Perishable items or items that can leak aren’t allowed like liquid soap, tooth paste, and food.” When making a box you can buy a label that has a QR code and if you scan it then you can track where your box or boxes go. This allows you to see what country it went to, and how far your box has traveled.
When making boxes there is no limit – just do as many as your heart wants! The cost to make one box is around $25 but you can also make a box just using one of your old shoe boxes. You don’t have to buy a shoe box from Samaritan’s Purse. You should pack at least one shoe box to make a difference in some little kid’s life, and maybe change their life forever.
