Varsity Football Senior Night

Varsity+Football+Senior+Night

JUPITER HIGH SCHOOL – on Friday, October 20, 2022 the Jupiter Christian School Varsity Football team held their annual Senior Night during the last home game of the season against Tradition Prep.

The Eagles brought home the victory with a score of 56 to 0, but the big win was not the most important part of the night. This game was meant to honor the 12 seniors on the Eagles’ Football team. At halftime, every senior and their family walked across the middle of the field to be honored for their time playing football for our school.

Matthew Summers, a senior on our team, who has played Varsity Football at JCS since eighth grade, said that this night was very special to him. Says Summers, “It’s been a special night to me every year since I started playing football here in eighth grade. Watching the seniors walk up every year reminded me of the fact that they were leaving and hearing about what they planned on doing next in their life was always very special.”

This is part of what makes Senior Night so special. These players are taking their next steps forward in life. For some players, this could also be the last time they put on the pads and play football, which further saddens Senior Night. Although it is sad, the memories made playing football mean everything to the seniors. The seniors are sad that their time playing football at JCS is coming to a close, but happy about the memories made and lessons learned.

Says Matthew, “Walking down the field with my parents and watching my fellow seniors walk with me seemed surreal. It’s crazy that after my five years of football at JCS, my Senior Night was finally here. It was a mix of emotions both happy and sad, but all in all it was one of the most special nights of my entire high school career.”

Matthew has played football at JCS longer than anyone on the team, and has done so much for this program as a captain, leader and teammate. All good things must come to an end and with players, parents, and coaches all glassy eyed the seniors move on to a new chapter in their lives.
