JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – Friends are people that can impact and influence your life in everything you do, for better or worse. On November 16th, 2022, I interviewed two students and one teacher on the topic of friendship.
The first interview was with an 8th grade student named Christian Nava. When asked “How do your friends influence your life?” Christian answered, “Friends are definitely one of the most influential things for people because without a friend you have no one to talk to except your family.” I personally agree with this; friends are people you can call on even when the world seems to be against you, and you are not able to speak or explain it to your parents or family.
The second interview was with our Director of Student Publications, Mr. Fields. I asked, “What do you think is the difference between a fake friend who you barely talk to, and a true friend who you talk to for all your life?” Mr. Fields answered, “The difference is that those casual friends that you have only at school, that you might not see again after they leave, is that they are not really friends that you can confide in.” Mr. Fields went on to add that with one of his own best friends named Justin, even if they do not talk to each other for a long time, they can still snap the friendship back and continue talking like nothing ever happened. Having a friendship is a dream for anyone; being able to keep a friendship going even after you stop talking for a while is even more so.
The third and final interview was with another 8th grade student named Jake Lovelady. I asked, “How do you think a friend can influence your life?” Jake answered, “Having someone always there for you, they might become more like family than friends. You will have someone to be there for you. Someone you can speak to about things you could not speak to your family about.” This really shows the impact that a friend can have on your life. They are there to confide in and even stay with you through tough times.
In conclusion, friendships can mean many different things to many different people. For some, it could be a lifelong friendship and they could be an extension of your own family. It could also be a friendship of convenience. But no matter how your friendship is with the other person, there is always that one person that you can call upon for anything.
