JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – On the first day of school coming to JCS, the new students didn’t know what awaited them, yet they still had the perseverance to try new opportunities outside of their previous schools.
According to Caden Tayoun, “JCS is like a steppingstone for my future.” He adds that it is the only private school that he has found to be very good. Caden is the one of many students that returned to JCS for high school, and like many others he stated that he plans to “graduate with flying colors on his diploma.” To get a better idea of how the students got to this point, we need to look into the previous schools they went to. In the case of Caden, he previously went to Marymount, an international school in Paris; but since the school is located in Europe, the culture is far different than what it is like here.
I, myself, can relate coming to JCS as an international student, because I moved here from Poland five years ago and it was very difficult to get used to the American culture. There were just so many things that didn’t make sense to me at the time.
Caden explained that in his previous school he had master classes, which are classes based upon his own interests such as cooking or other hobbies. He states that he would like JCS to have classes such as these, as they would make the average school day more fun and enjoyable.
Master classes were one of the few things that he stated “kept him going” throughout his years in Marymount. For example, he explained that one of his previous goals was to learn how to cook, which was made possible by the master classes that he took.
Although there may be a lot of things that new students miss from their previous schools, I think it is safe to say that coming here to JCS will help them to advance in the upcoming future. Keeping this in mind, we should help the new students feel more welcome at our school so that they can have better success in their academic career here at JCS.
