PALM BEACH ATLANTIC – Crosby Sateren and a few of his classmates took a trip with a group called DECA to Palm Beach Atlantic University. The group took the trip to PBA to learn about the free market and how it affects the economy. Crosby said this when he was asked about his biggest takeaway, “Probably how important the free market is to the world, because everyone there was just talking about how good it was and how important it is to the economy.”
Crosby is a junior in high school at JCS and was able to go on this trip with some of his senior classmates. Crosby was happy that he was able to go with this older group because he believes that he was able to learn more at the conference. Crosby said this about how the older people helped him, “Being around them helps me to be more mature. Also, I just learned more about business and stuff, just in general, just being around them.”
Crosby enjoyed getting to visit the PBA campus because it was a good opportunity to get to tour potential college campuses that he could go to. Crosby shared his thoughts on the campus saying, “It’s very nice. It’s definitely small, but I mean, not in a bad way. I mean, it’s definitely a nice school. Everything in there is nice and modern. There’s nothing old or gross.” He enjoyed this campus and even has a brother that attends PBA, so this is definitely a potential college that Crosby could be attending in the future.
Overall, this was an amazing experience for him and it was an introduction to the business world. Crosby is not sure yet of his future plans regarding business but he did say that attending this conference opened his eyes to a potential career that he could pursue in the future.
