JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – It’s time for lunch at Jupiter Christian. Students are sitting at picnic tables, talking and laughing with their friends, and enjoying their tasty food. For many JCS students, lunch is one of the best parts of the day. The food is delicious and you get to hang out with your friends. However, lunch has been a little different since the end of last school year—a new cafeteria is under construction! The students at Jupiter Christian are excited to find out what the new cafeteria will be like. Until then, we will continue to enjoy lunch at JCS!
One of the reasons students love lunch at Jupiter Christian is pretty obvious—the food! We get break in the morning, where we get to eat a little snack. But not every student has a snack every day. And even if you eat something at break, you have to wait a while to have lunch. However, it is worth the wait, because lunch at JCS is delicious! Some students buy their lunch, others bring their lunch from home, and some have a combination of the two. If you’re buying, you get food from a different local restaurant each day of the week. On Monday, we get Culver’s, on Tuesday, we get Bole, Wednesday (lots of students’ favorite day) is Chick-fil-a, Thursday is subs from Jersey Mikes, and on Friday, we get pizza from Sal’s Italian Ristorante. You can also buy snacks, such as a bag of chips or a Gatorade. It’s safe to say that the lunch at JCS is delicious—most schools don’t get food from real restaurants!
Another reason lunch is one of the best parts of the day is because students get to hang out with their friends! This is especially important for students who don’t get to see their friends in other classes. One student said that one of her friends is in all honors classes and she has a few friends a grade below her that she only gets to see during break and lunch. Lunch is also where lot of friendships are formed. A student said that she met one of her best friends at lunch, when she and her friends saw her eating alone and invited her to sit with them. It is important for there to be time in the school day for students to take a break and hang out with their friends—especially when you don’t get to see them much else in the school day. Lunch gives us that opportunity.
Lunch at JCS has been a little bit different for the past few months—because a new cafeteria is under construction! This is both good and bad for the students and staff at JCS. The construction started near the end of last school year. It has been months, and some students were beginning to wonder if it would ever finish. However, the new cafeteria now seems to be almost completely finished, and students are eager to see what the inside looks like—we’ve been peeking in the windows, trying to get a good look. As exciting as a new cafeteria is, some students and staff have complaints about the construction. First of all, some are complaining about how long the construction is taking. Although it seems to be almost finished, it took a pretty long time. While the construction is going on, everyone has to sit outside during lunch. This is especially problematic when it gets really hot out. Even the lunch line is outside! Because of this, we can no longer get ice cream on Friday, something that lots of students looked forward to each week. And since the construction workers started working on the pipes, the whole middle school car line got moved. Despite the setbacks, the JCS students are excited for the new cafeteria!
In conclusion, lunch is an important part of the day for students at Jupiter Christian School. It’s a time when they can take a break from school to eat delicious food and spend time with their friends. While lunch has been a little different for a while because of the construction on the cafeteria, students are excited to see what the new cafeteria will be like, and what changes it will bring. But, hopefully it doesn’t bring too much change, because the students love lunchtime at JCS!
