JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL — Over Thanksgiving Break, I watched Wicked, which starred Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda.
When I went to New York City a couple of years ago, I saw Wicked on Broadway. The theatre was packed, and the show received a standing ovation. I don’t remember much from when I saw the play, so I decided to watch the movie adaptation of Wicked.
Wicked’s setting is in the land of Oz, the same world as in The Wizard of Oz. Wicked tells the story of Elphaba and Glinda, from the original 1939 movie known as Glinda, the Good Witch, and Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West. This coming-of-age story has themes of friendship, adversity, and acceptance with masterfully incorporated commentary on real-life issues.
Wicked is a wonderful movie that needs to be seen.
