JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – The guidance counselor offices at Jupiter Christian are a place students can go not only for educational support but life support. Whenever you walk into Mrs. Grout’s office, you immediately feel comfortable with her warm smile, motivational words and perhaps a snack or two! Mrs. Grout is one of the kindest and most caring people on the JCS campus. She is the type of person who listens with her heart. She wants each and every student to succeed not only in the classroom but in life. She knows that each student’s path is unique and if she can help shape that path, it brings her joy.
For as long as she can remember, she has always wanted to work with kids. “Since I was young, I dreamt of becoming a teacher,” she shared. After earning her bachelor’s degree in elementary education, she began teaching but later felt that something else called to her more. “I felt led to pursue my master’s in School Counseling—a career that would allow me to work one-on-one with students and help them navigate challenges and discover their potential.”
Now in her second year at Jupiter Christian, Mrs. Grout says what she loves most is the people at JCS. “There’s such a strong sense of community here—students and staff alike.” She commented how every day is busy and never the same. Her days are filled with meeting with students, collaborating with teachers, and helping with school and personal challenges. “No two days are ever the same, but I love that about the job!”
Some of her favorite moments at JCS are watching the students grow. “Seeing students succeed throughout their high school journey and beyond means so much to me.” She admits that it can be extremely difficult not to take her work home with her. “It’s important to practice self-care so we can keep giving our best.”
When students feel overwhelmed and just out of it, she reminds them it’s okay not to have everything figured out. “Lean on prayer and trust that God knows the plan He has for your life.”
Mrs. Grout hopes students remember her “not just for the snacks, but as someone who truly cared, listened, and believed in them.” With her warmth and faith, she continues to be the heart of Jupiter Christian.
