JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – It’s the holiday season – a time to reflect and assess how our year really went. A time to look back on the challenges we faced, the lessons we learned and the moments that we will remember forever. With life moving at the speed of light, it is very easy to forget how blessed we are and the things we are thankful for. Whether it’s family, friends or our health, gratitude helps us appreciate how far we’ve come and what truly matters. The holiday season is a good reminder for us to slow down and notice the good in the world and in our lives.
To find out what gratitude means around the JCS campus, I asked one simple question: What are you thankful for this year?
Voices of Gratitude
Nicole Rivero, 9th grade: “I’m thankful for my new school, new friends, family and being safe.”
Mrs. Grout, Guidance Counselor: “My growing family (husband, dogs, and baby girl on the way!)”
Sophie Juracka, 9th grade: “Friends, Starbucks and my dog Gaia.
Kathryn Umphrey, 11th grade: “I am grateful for my friends, family and church.”
Being thankful is something we talk about year round at JCS. Gratitude and showing thanks is part of who we are. The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” That verse reminds us that even when things don’t go our way, there’s always something to be grateful for.
As we head into the Thanksgiving break, let’s all take a moment to appreciate everything around us — our friends, our teachers, our families, and the little things that make each day special. Gratitude doesn’t just make us feel good — it brings us closer to each other and to God. And perhaps if we keep that thankful mindset, we just might realize that everyday is worth celebrating.
