The Power of Prayer

The+Power+of+Prayer

JUPITER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL, September 21, 2023 – I talked with Jupiter Christian sophomore, Cayden Alula. Cayden Alula is a sophomore on the Varsity Football team and is the starting receiver and safety. Cayden started playing football in seventh grade and has fallen in love with the sport since.

Cayden talked about how he sees God with him and the football team. Cayden said that last year was a tough year for the football team. Although they had many amazing players, they were underperforming. This year, Cayden said that God has brought the team together in so many ways and their record proves it. God has guided them in such a way that they have become closer to one another. This has brought the team to have such a great start to the season. “The more we focused on God rather than just football, it brought the team together and it just translated to the field,” Cayden explained.

Cayden talked about his experience with God and how if you are patient and pray, you will feel healed. In May of last year, Cayden injured his collarbone very badly. He spent his summer trying to heal his collarbone and doing rehab. Then, at the end of the summer, he thought the bone was healed so he went tubing and injured the bone again. Cayden was in shock that he had re-injured himself. “This grew for a desperation for God,” Cayden said.

That night he remembers being so tired and all he wanted to do was go to bed, but he decided to pray. After he had prayed for an hour straight, he realized, “I have nothing else to hope in except God.” Cayden had no idea how severe his injury really was because he could not get an X-ray for days. Each day Cayden kept gaining back strength, until finally his x-ray came back completely clear. Cayden knew, God had healed him.

Jeremiah 17:14 states, “Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved, for you are my praise.” So, remember that God is always there, you just have to pray and be patient. Make sure you support your JCS Varsity Football team this season!
